Facing the altar and my window creates an environment what has helped me focus and hear God better. So simple yet effective. Hope you are well too. I have been busy trying to build my platform - lots of behind the scenes stuff - takes time so I hope pays off eventually. Take care, dear friend!

Let me know how and what you did to improve the space. I notice just simply moving my chair made a huge difference. Even adding the candle help. I bet it won't take much, Nancy. Blessings!!

Just this morning (!) I thought, "I need to do something to create the kind of contemplative atmosphere I used to enjoy." For years (and in ten different homes) I sat at the kitchen table, before anyone else in the house was awake. I'd imagine Jesus sitting across from me, as I spent time in Bible study, journaling, devotional reading, prayer, etc. In fact, when it came time to pray, I'd often reach across the table, as if to hold hands with Jesus. Now, Steve and I are retired. Our home has an open floor-plan, which I love, except it does not allow me the luxury of a kitchen to myself in the a.m. Nor do I want to set the alarm early and disturb Steve. So I've moved my quiet time to the guest room/office. But just as you've said, the books, working files, and scattered notes are distracting. The atmosphere just isn't right! As a result, I read your post eagerly, gleaning all sorts of ideas of how I can make this office space more conducive to meditation and worship. Thank you SO much, Jean!

So glad my words inspired you. I had another friend on Facebook share the same thing. What is exciting it my little altar is by the door so as I enter and leave my office, I touch it and feel like I connect with God with my comings and goings. Who would have thought such a simple little change would enrich me/us so much? Thanks Martha!!

Jean, I thought I'd created a "sacred place", but after reading your post, I know, definitely know, I can do better so that I can truly let go and let God into my life in a meaningful and life-changing way. I love the idea of an altar! I will reconsider the space I've created and see what He inspires me to do. Thanks for the blessings of your words today, my friend!
