Interesting how you are listening internally to the shifts in your spirit. I know when I sense that it is usually important for me to name it and pay attention to it. A lesson or a possible "correction" is taking place. don't you just love how these words keep teaching us things....

I'm so sorry for the loss of your brother. This is such a poignant post, Jean. I, too, have had these grief bursts at times. They don't last a long time, but I know it's important to feel our feelings and lean on God. His word is also a comfort to me when the grief comes as I miss my son and my parents. I'm visiting from the one word linkup. God bless!

I didn't know World Listening Day was even a thing, but I love that is. And I love that you stayed in a treehouse for 3 days! Amazing, Jean. And not surprising. You find the most spiritual things to do.

I've been focused lately on listening more closely when an "alarm" (i.e. anxiety) goes off in my body instead of only listening to the thoughts in my head (they don't always tell me the truth, imagine that! ha).

Oh Barb, I am so sorry you are going through this. I certainly identify and walk with you. I just heard of a book I am going to try to get at the library - Bearing the Unbearable. I know it helped a friend who lost a child and gave her courage to keep going. So much loss in so many ways - we need to help each other. sending hugs and love.

Jean, have been experiencing my own "minor" grief bursts lately. Mostly, they sit in my heart and mind as I attempt to live my life and act "normal". A couple of people in my life have noticed that something is off, but mostly I let it sit on me like a rock on my chest and try to breathe normally. I know God is working, but I am struggling to know how ot survive in the meantime.

Yes, I too have a collection of borrowed prayers. Each one, when it was discovered, spoke to me with surprising insight, speaking my heart-thoughts before they'd become words. Now I want to add Henri Nouwen's prayer you've shared here. Who know that HE would suffer from distraction?! His prayer echoes my experience some days. I love his honesty and humility as he presents himself to God as he is, and asks God to give him rest.

Such a worthy collection of snippets, Jean. How fun to explore the various ways people organize their books! I'd say mine are by genre: devotionals on one shelf, Christian growth on another, Bible knowledge and studies, on a third, and the rest on shelf #4. / Fascinating study about how quickly our brains can recover from screen-overdose! / LOVE that poem about grief, giving me a new perspective. / And who wouldn't benefit from taking to heart James Clear's encouragement? Thank you, Jean!

Jean, I love these snippets you've gathered! I've shelved my books all different ways over time - even followed the trend of putting the titles in the back and just letting the beauty of the pages show.

Who knew books could be so versatile!

I read the book first, then saw the movie. Both do a great job. After I saw the movie then a reread the book! There is more background and science stuff in the book so I was glad I got that overview before the movie as I think I would have missed some details. And of course due to time they had to leave some book things out of the movie. I did read the director said he got 9 out of the 10 main things he wanted from the book into the film so that isn't bad. Let me know what. you think!

So glad to hear you liked both the book and movie because I haven't read nor seen it yet! Something to look forward to. :) My son-in-law just got the book, so I can likely borrow his copy when he's finished. Would you recommend the book or movie first? I usually go with books first, but this one may be different?
