Being present certainly does her with discernment. I am living in the future way too much. Yes I love that Merton quote – one of my favorites. Trust is a hard issue and one we will probably deal with rest of our lives. I do find now – being older and a little wiser – I trust a bit easier since I have experienced such God’s grace, guidance and love in the past – I think that helps me let go and let him handle the unknown better. That living with the ambiguity – hard to do at times. Happy weekend to you too!

Trust. Oy. I always have to work on that, it’s a key in spiritual life. I agree that courage is needed to gain it, and vice versa.

Oh, Martha, I so do love snap decisions – get it done and decided used to be my guide but yes, yes now I slow down and listen so much more but so much more is still needed. Amazing how many “voices” weigh in on a decision and that first loudest one, though wants to mean well, isn’t always the best. Glad you liked this series = I know I learned much writing it.
