This is so true – some books arrive just when they are needed. and no we never have enough book shelves. I love the scene in Beauty and the Beast when he shows her the library. wow. to explore all those shelves. LOL

I am finding this a wonderful enriching practice too. Revisiting old friends and so much wisdom in those books! I try to purge yearly but it is so hard to part with some of them isn’t it?

I’ve found that they are rediscovered at just the right time. It was that way with The Way of the Pilgrim in winter. I need a whole additional wall of bookshelves – can anyone every have too many? I’ll look forward to hearing the books you choose to share about. I’ve actually been doing a spontaneous purge of several books this past week. I’ve probably eliminated 30 books from my shelves (aack!). I hope that passing them along will be a blessing to someone else.

He truly was a man of wisdom and insight. I appreciate his three-fold description of the spiritual life. Such balance surely contributes to joy and contentment. As for books that have brought me closer to God recently, I’d site Ruth Haley Barton’s book, Invitation to Solitude and Silence (which I may have mentioned here before). Though I finished reading it in May, I’m still reviewing and processing and seeking to implement her suggestions. I’ve also been blessed by Lysa Terkheurst’s collection of devotionals, titled Embraced. Wonderful content written in Lysa’s captivating style!
