In reply to <a href="https://healthyspirituality.org/lessons-wonder-tolkien/#comment-7910">Elizabeth H. Cottrell</a>.

I love biographies and the insights you get when you see the big picture of someone's life. Too often we don't see our own, do we? Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I am so far behind in responding as we have been on a cruise. Nice but time to get back to the blessings of routines!

I never thought of wonder as a powerful spiritual practice, but of course you're right. Wonder engenders gratitude and praise, which are elements of worship. And worship fosters peace and joy, blessing and strength. Note to self: wonder more! Thank you, Jean.

What a marvelous reminder to reclaim our childlike wonder and sense of awe and joy. I was fascinated to learn these things about Tolkien. Thank you for your marvelous insights.

Thanks for sharing Tolkien's life and his words here, Jean. His sense of continued wonder during his life certainly enhanced his creativity, that's for sure. I love the passage about Frodo's reaction to seeing Lorien for the first time - it so reminds me of my character, Davy's, awe and wonder when he firsts gazes up The Glade. May we all never, ever lose our ability to wonder deeply at the miracles all around us.
Blessings!
