Lost!
Just the word makes me nervous. I think of dark alleys. Scary places. Fear of the unknown. Not knowing what will happen next. Spooky places with bizarre jumping out of the bushes happenings.
Lost!
Misplaced precious keepsakes. Missing loved ones, Pets gone astray.
Get Lost!
Sounds like a real put down, doesn’t it? Well, I am telling you to GET LOST this week!!
Not very nice of me or is it?
Sunday we sang Blessed Assurance, the classic hymn by Fanny Crosby. Despite her blindness, which she acquired shortly after birth, she was one of the most prolific hymn writers in history, having written over 8,000 hymns.
The final four words at the end of the second verse permeated my heart. I actually stopped singing and just prayed that line over and over again while the congregation kept on singing.
Lost in His love.
Wow! What a grand place to get lost in – in God’s love.
I have experienced and I am sure you have too being so absorbed in a project you lose track of all time. To be so deep in thought the world fades away. To be so engrossed in what is before your eyes, you see nothing else. To feel so safe, that the scary uneasiness of lost becomes a secured protected haven.
Now that is a great meaning of the word: Lost.
Worship is being lost in His love.
Absorbed into His spirit by letting God’s arms surround you.
Seeing only God in all things.
Awestruck by His grace and compassion.
Isn’t that just a great line?
Lost in His love.
Perfect submission, all is at rest!
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with his goodness, lost in His love.
This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.
May you get lost this week! Lost in His love!
Thanks for all the comments. I love the saying : Those who sing. pray twice and this hymn sure does that.
Amen, I never actually realized how profound those words were. Hoping to get lost in His love today.
Jeanie, how many times have I sung that verse and never thought much of that ending. Now it will be a favorite line, too!
Amen sister! Thanks for the encouragement on my blog. 🙂
Such a wonderful place to lose ourselves Jean… In the arms of our Savior!
Sounds like a much better option than the scary things in the alley to me… 🙂
Have a Blessed Day Dear Lady!
jean–your titles have such a way of drawing me in. No way I could resist a reference to Blessed Assurance! How about “echoes of mercy, whispers of love?” Such lovely, powerful words.
