We are traveling to Boston this Independence Day Holiday and will be listening to the Boston Pops on the 4th of July. So I am posting this early. Enjoy!
Here is a thought to ponder this holiday:
You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle,
but with family picnics
where kids throw Frisbees,
the potato salad gets iffy,
and the flies die from happiness.
You may think you have overeaten,
but it is patriotism.

Enjoy your 4th! 🙂
I, too, loved Erma. Great quote! Hope you have a great time and don’t get washed or blown away!
I love Erma too. have been fortunate to attend the Erma Bombeck writer conference in Dayton too. wonderful conference.
I love Erma Bombeck and miss her writing. Due to Hurricane Arthur, the Pops Concert is scheduled for tonight, July 3rd – the Esplanade opens at 5PM. Since it’s supposed to rain tomorrow, I would recommend staying inside and going to the Museum of Fine Arts – the Magna Carter is on display. As I live in Boston, perhaps we can meet up. Safe travels, Irene
