Yet I still belong to you; you hold my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny.
Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth.
My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.
Those who desert him will perish, for you destroy those who abandon you.
But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter,
and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.
Psalm 73:23-28 (New Living Translation)
I still belong to you –
Though I neglect you
I still belong to you –
Though I forget you
I still belong to you –
Though I try to fill my life with worldly things
I still belong to you
Though my heart wanders
I still belong to you
Thank you for being the God who clings to me no matter how I behave
Loves me no matter how I act
Forgives me no matter how I stray
Thank you Lord for never giving up on me and help me always remember that
I still belong to you.
What a neat image that is about the Christmas lights. Are we blessed that He never leaves us even when we don’t see/feel him?
I will head over to your blog and read about what you wrote today Colleen. Just love reading another take of the lesson.
Interested that you never doubt. At the workshop I just attended they commented that doubt is one challenge everyone faces at one point or another. I just know, like you do, that keeping our eyes on Jesus makes all the difference.
Lovely and transparent. One of the most reassuring conversations I ever had on a very low day was with a kind missionary who had been serving in Africa. I explained to him how disappointed I get with myself for bouts of doubt and lack of devotion. He told me that if truth be told, he would describe his faith like Christmas lights -on and off and on and off. His admission seemed like a confession, and very out of character for this devoted giant among the brethren. In visiting we realized together that it is in our doubt that we once again search for God and find He had never left. He is more than enough.
I wrote about belonging this week, too! So important to know we belong. Especially Belonging to God..
Hi Jean:
I’m grateful, as you may know, I’ve never doubted, that I’ve never neglected HIM.
I believe that is why I see the Divine in all, because I look for it everywhere. I understand that God is everywhere and I believe HE rewards me w/seeing HIM everywhere.
I don’t STILL belong to HIM.
I BELONG to HIM.
