In the desert the most urgent thing is—to wait.
The desert does not take kindly to those who tackle it at breakneck speed, subjecting it to their plans and deadlines.
Instead, the desert welcomes those who shed their sandals of speed and walk slowly in their bare feet, letting them be caressed and burnt by the sand.
If you have no ambition to conquer the desert,
if you do not think you are in charge,
if you can calmly wait for things to be done,
then the desert will not consider you an intruder
and will reveal its secrets to you.

Glad to read on your blog you are getting settled into your new place. The best part of moving is when it is finally over and you can relax! I certainly agree with you when I am in the desert it takes me awhile to let go and be. Often I learn more in reflection then in the midst of it.
Love this. My problem when I’m in the desert is I try so hard to get out of it. Best to just Be. And wait.
Hi Mary, being in the desert can be tough terrain but too am learning to savor those moments. I love how you express yourself in these comments and always love hearing your thoughts Thanks!
I first read this in the natural, and savored past moments in the desert, and thought, yes, this is certainly been my experience in the deserts of New Mexico, Arizona, and California.
Then, I read it again, and realize that God gave me times in the natural desert to understand the spiritual deserts in my life, and not be afraid. Today, I see those lessons of the desert playing out and am comforted.
I’ve learned Mia that dry times are growth times if you are open to them. I thought the quote may be helpful to someone going through a difficult time. have a wonderful weekend.
Dear Jean
Yes, the desert is a place we all need to go through and allow our Lord to do His work in and through us. He leads us through deserts again and again until we learn how useless our efforts truly are.
