Keeping our Eyes on God – Lectio Divina

January 9, 2011 By Jean Wise

“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.”
 2 Chronicles 20:12b (NIV)

Our eyes are upon you.

Lord I want to live with my eyes only on You.
When I focus on You, I know where I am going with a profound sense of peace.
Like Peter walking on the water – doing the impossible with you and only when keeping you as the center.
Like Peter, I take my eyes off when the threatening waves of the world and my ego’s fears and anxieties distract me.
Holy Spirit, help me concentrate more on You and less on those shiny commotions disturbing my periphery.
Stay my center, Lord
My center
My focal point
My Lord.

Been thinking if we keep our eyes on Him all the time, it would probably help us see Him in others too. Thanks for all the comments

    Wonderful prayer Jean.

If we keep our eyes clearly focused on Him, truth becomes our sight.

    Have a Blessed Day!

This is a good prayer for me this week. I need to keep my eyes on Jesus, keep myself centered on Him. Thanks. God bless.

If only I could, but it seems I am so often just slightly off center and a bit blurry in my relationship with our Lord. But how beautiful are those times when all is focused on him and I am centered. Thanks Jeanie for so often bringing me back to center. Clella

Jeanie, I really like that, “stay my center.” Yes, too many “shiny commotions.”
