Physical and spiritual growth cannot be reduced to mechanics.
I’m all for getting the mechanics right, but spiritual growth is more than a procedure;
it’s a wild search for God in the tangled jungle of our souls,
a search which involves a volatile mix of
messy reality,
wild freedom,
frustrating stuckness,
increasing slowness,
and a healthy dose of gratitude.
Mike Yaconelli
I found this quote on another blog this week but I do believe it is from that book. I have that someplace on my book shelf. Maybe this is an invitation to reread it again.
I really liked this quote too. Thanks for your kind words and for stopping by this weekend
Hi Melinda, I really enjoyed this quote too. You made me smile about the messy part…
That was the line that i loved to. and thanks for stopping by my blog this weekend!
Hi Jean
Mike Yaconelli. Another one of my favorite authors. Is this quote from Messy Spirituality?
Blessings

What’s great about this quote is that it makes the ‘wild search for God ‘ and ‘volatile mix’ sound at least an active and adventurous trek and then when one reaches the point of experiencing a ‘healthy dose of gratitude’ it is a wonderful moment to experience. I agree with Beth, you do have a lovely blog Jean.
Great quote! xo
I’m hopping over from the SITS Sharefest! 🙂
Have a great weekend!

{Melinda} I love this quote, Jeanie! It is so true. I sometimes wish the growth process didn’t have to be SO messy!
