The blessing of the Lord be on you. Psalm 129:8
I cried last Saturday.
In fact, tears dropped for over an hour.
You see I held him as a baby, clear back in 1983.
I cried then too.
One day, full of self-pity in the midst of post-partum depression, I told the Lord through my tears that my arms were inadequate to take care of this baby He gave me.
“I put him in Your arms, Lord. May the blessing of the Lord be upon you, young Brian.”
As a mother I often put my children into God’s much stronger protection. Plenty of times my heart prayed, “May the blessing of the Lord be upon you.”
When he first began to walk.
When he skipped bravely through the kindergarten door.
The first time and quite a few times, when he began to drive.
May the blessing of the Lord be upon you.

May the blessing of the Lord be upon you.
And now once again I cried as I put Brian into God’s arms.
In a beautiful ceremony glorifying God, my son was ordained on Saturday as a pastor.
When Brian as a teenager felt the call of the Lord to enter His service, my heart leapt with the truth I already knew since he was a newborn.
God called him to serve His kingdom.
The first time I shed tears for him, like Hannah, I gave him to the Lord.
On Saturday God wrapped His arms around him once again. This time my eyes brimmed with joy.
I surrounded you with prayers all your life. I asked for the Lord’s blessing on you and God lavished His love on both of us.
With tears of love and joy I once again pray:
May the blessing of the Lord be upon you, Brian.
I would cry too. No greater joy could a mother have then to see her son give his life into the ministry. Congratulations
How beautiful!!! I am sure you are so very proud. 🙂
How wonderful! It’s wonderful to see how God answered your prayers. 🙂
Thank you for all the nice thoughts. It sure has been a great time of celebration. Gotta hold onto these good times cause we all know life is full of ups and downs. Sometimes I rush through the good times too quickly without taking the time to savor them. This one I will
