What Do You Cling To? – Quote of the Week – Thomas Merton

May 21, 2011 By Jean Wise

“Our great danger is to throw away things that are excellent, which we do not understand, and replace them with mediocre forms which seem to us to be more meaningful and which in fact are only trite.”
Thomas Merton.

Wow. So true. We attach to the mediocre because it’s easy…

Clining on or holding on to things in which I have no control over is hard for me at times, I find myself wrestling over a matter and after much lost then I give it away. One would think I would of learned my lesson by now but I am not as bad as I use to be.
