Then one day Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and was baptized by John there in the Jordan River.
The moment Jesus came up out of the water, he saw the heavens open
and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove descending on him,
and a voice from heaven said,
“You are my beloved Son; you are my Delight.”
Mark 1:9-11 (TLB)
“You are my beloved Son; you are my Delight.”
Lord you spoke at Jesus’ baptism. We read the words “You are my beloved Son.”
Help us remember our baptism too with every splash, sip and shower of water.
Whisper into our hearts the same identifying words.
When I take a drink, remind me I am your loved child.
When I wash my hands, help me feel your delight knowing I am your loved child.
When I shower or bathe, let me know your grace and mercy also washes me internally revealing your mark as a loved child of God.
When circumstances darken and my soul goes dry, send your soaking spirit to revive my spirit, knowing I am safe in your arms as a loved child of God.
I am a loved child of Child.
May I never forget who I am.
May I never forget where I belong.
May I never forget who I am in you.
Hi Jean! And let me tell you, I thirst for a shower!! Now with this broken leg, a bath is a complete luxury. I now understand why that deer was thirsting for water. Water has so many meanings, and I am connecting with washing right now. I will definitely think of baptism tomorrow as I get my hair washed and get a sponge bath. How beautiful it will be!
I see a blog post in this. Thank you for your inspiration.
Blessings,
Ceil
OOOO Ceil, first of all so good to hear from you. You have been in my prayers. Second I just love showers and can’t imagine not being able to take them so fully understand how you are thristing on a different level now than ever before. Enjoy every moment of that hair washing and sponge bath. I think you will be multiple posts from this experience – just what we take for granted for example and being grateful for daily things such as showers. will keep you in my prayers!!
What a simple and beautiful way to remember we are His beloved children! Thank you for this inspiration today, Jean!
I just had to laugh today as I shared this with the kids during the Children’s sermon. We had a cheer going :
Who are you?
I am a loved child of God!
We even got the adults to participate. It was wonderful and I did have to wonder how many adults had never said that about themselves before. Neat moment in church.
have a great week, Martha!
