Creating a Rule of Life is one of the most popular downloads and posts on this blog. I can see when people download a pdf of a resource from one of the past pages on a post on a topic and journaling and rule of life continue to be two main interests of people seeking more information.
I wrote a first draft of a book about writing a rule of life during the pandemic – a very rough first draft and took that awful outline out of hiding from its dark closet last January, dusted it off, reworked its words, gently sent it to an editor to rework and shine and polish and get it ready for the world and guess what? Creating a Rule of Life, A Manual for Dancing to Divine Rhythms is ready to be released next Tuesday July 29 on Amazon.
Here is its summary:
Are you curious about the spiritual practice called a “rule of life” and how can we build order and disciplines into our daily lives? Creating a personal rule of life helps us abide closer to God and live in sync with God’s rhythms instead of living muddled, disordered, inconsistent lives.
Can we follow God’s movements as we respond to his invitation to dance with the divine Choreographer? What patterns and steps best keep us open to experience God’s love and grace every day?
These questions reflect our deep longing to grow in our faith and devotion to God. We sense the invitation to the intimacy and joy of a dance with the Lord.
Creating a Rule of Life, a Manual for Dancing to Divine Rhythms is an uplifting practical guidebook to help you:
- Discover the meaning and purpose of a rule of life.
- Deepen skills and ideas of how to create a personal rule.
- Develop a life-giving framework to live aligned with God.
- Draw closer to God, dancing together in a sacred rhythm of daily life.
Writing your rule of life is an intentional and powerful practice. Living within a divine framework leads to vibrant, healthy spirituality. Let’s dance!
I hope this book blesses many of you interested in this practice. Thank you for your encouragement and ongoing support.
Have you created a Rule of Life?
In checking my quiet time notebook, I found your Rule of Life questions which I completed back in 2018. Not only is a review long overdue, but a REDO! (I recall the exercise to be purposeful and insightful.) I’ll be adding this book to the Jean Wise section on my bookshelves! 😁
I am amazed you kept those questions, wow. I find reviewing my rule of life once or twice a year so helpful. sort of realigns me and reminds me what I may be forgetting or neglecting. Such a good practice!
Such a wise practice, Jean (no pun intended)!
you are funny, Nancy!!
How exciting, Jean! I love how intentional you are to create resources that you know will be helpful to other people. I’m sure this will be a beautiful addition to your collection of authored books. You’re amazing.
Thanks Lisa, This is a simple small book but has a creative aspect that was fun to create too.
